February 3: One killed in sectarian attack

February 4: Attack on Shias in Peshawar

Eight people were killed and more than 42 others injured when a powerful explosion carried out by a suicide bomber ripped through a local hotel. The blast site was situated near Imambargah Alamdar, and was frequented mostly by Shias in the Qissa Khwani Bazaar. Pakistan Today

February 4: Boys school destroyed in Charsadda

The veranda and a room of a primary school for boys were destroyed in a bomb blast in Sro Kallay, Shabqadar tehsil of Charsadda district. The police rushed to the site and upon inspection found another homemade bomb at the site with similar specifications. The bomb disposal squad (BDS) was called upon and the device was defused. Express Tribune

February 4: Another school bombed in Bannu

Yet another girls’ school in Bannu was destroyed after an improvised explosive device was detonated after school-hours at the site. Most of the building was destroyed in the explosion. The News

February 4: Shia leader gunned down in Peshawar

Unidentified gunmen shot dead the provincial president of the Tehrik Nifaz-e-Fiqah Jafria (TNFJ-Mousavi Group) Syed Asghar Ali Shah, in Donga Gali.

 The 75 year old victim was on his way to his shop in Qissa Khwani bazaar when two armed men opened fire on him. He was hit by four bullets and succumbed to his injuries while being shifted to the Lady Reading Hospital. The News

February 7: Schoolteacher killed in Kurram Agency

A school teacher was shot dead by unknown assailants in Malana area of Upper Kurram Agency. Najeeb Ali was on his way home when he was ambushed by the attackers who left him severely injured.

Residents took the teacher to the agency’s headquarters hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Express Tribune

February 8: Sufi poet’s shrine destroyed in Kohlu, Quetta

The shrine of a popular Sufi poet of Balochistan, Mast Twakali, has been set on fire. The shrine, located in Mawand area of Kohlu district, is visited by thousands of devotees each day, while the saint is reputed to have millions of followers across the subcontinent. Most of the shrine and its adjoining buildings were badly damaged by the fire. Dawn

February 9: Eight dead in Karachi shrine attack

At least eight people were killed and over a dozen wounded when gunmen riding on motorcycles resorted to indiscriminate firing at a shrine on the outskirts of Karachi. At least 40 people, belonging to various ethnicities, were present at the Aastana of Baba Pir Mehrban Shah when the attack happened.

Witnesses at the scene put the number of attackers as between six to eight, and some also claimed that the assailants lobbed explosive material before firing. The entire attack lasted a few minutes before the assailants escaped. Express Tribune
