May 19: Four killed in Karachi sectarian attacks

Four people, including an Imambargah trustee, were gunned down in various sectarian attacks in different parts of the city.

All the victims were targeted by gun-wielding motorcycle riders, and they were all members of the Shia community. Dawn

May 20: Three Karachiites killed in sectarian attacks

Karachi’s spate of sectarian killings continued as a Shia banker and two members of the extremist political organisation Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) were shot dead in various incidents across Karachi.

The two ASWJ members were kidnapped on the way to their residence and were allegedly brought near an Imambargah where they were then killed.

Later in the day, a Shia banker named Syed Hassan Mehdi was returning to his home in Landhi when he was murdered by target killers. Dawn

May 22: Two Shia brothers gunned down in Karachi 

Two Shia brothers were shot dead after motorcycle riding gunmen opened fire on them as they were traveling in a rickshaw. Their deaths took the city’s sectarian death toll to nine killings in three days, with seven of the victims belonging to the Shia community. Dawn

May 22: ASWJ members killed in Rawalpindi

Two office-bearers of the Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) were killed in a targeted attack near the Ojri Camp in Shamsabad.  Both members of the banned organisation were on their way to Saddar after attending a religious seminar when they were attacked by unidentified motorcycle riders. Dawn

May 24: Multiple Blasts near imambargah leave one child dead, several wounded

An eight-year-old boy was killed while twelve others, including five children, were wounded in three back-to-back explosions in Orangi town.

The first two attacks, which were of a lower intensity, were caused after hand grenades were hurled into the Jafria Imambargah. The third explosion, which was caused by an improvised explosive device (IED) took place after security officials reached the area. Express Tribune

May 24: School building destroyed in Mohmand Agency

Unidentified militants bombed a government school building in Mohmand Agency after detonating explosives planted on the site. No casualties were reported in the attack but the school building was completely destroyed. Militants across Pakistan, particularly in the tribal areas, have been regularly destroying government schools as part of their campaign against education. Daily Times
