Annual Report (2021-2022)

by: Jinnah Institute

This year’s report reflects a period of sharp geopolitical transition, during which Jinnah Institute convened high-level policy dialogues on the fallout of the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, evolving Indo-Pak dynamics, and Pakistan’s post-pandemic economic trajectory. Signature discussions included Prospects for Diplomatic Engagement Between India and Pakistan and Taliban 2.0: What to Expect from the Islamic Emirate, alongside the continued convening of the Chaophraya Dialogue—South Asia’s longest-running Track-II process. Flagship publications included Pakistan’s Macro Economy and the Covid-19 Pandemic by Dr. Asad Sayeed and Dr. Aqdas Afzal, and Past the Tipping Point by Ahmad Rafay Alam, a critical reflection on Pakistan’s climate diplomacy. The Flashpoint series featured expert insights on the TTP resurgence, India’s accidental missile launch, and the future of the Hurriyat following Geelani’s death. Webinars addressed timely concerns, from mob violence and forced conversions to education reform, while opinion editorials shaped public debate on Afghan women, strategic autonomy, and India’s political turn. Throughout, JI remained a convening space for pluralist, evidence-based policymaking.
