May 26: US – based Ahmadi doctor killed in Lahore

An American doctor who was volunteering in Pakistan was shot dead by gunmen in Lahore. Dr. Mehdi Ali, a 50 year-old heart surgeon, was a member of the Ahmadi community and was visiting a cemetery with his family when he was attacked. Dawn

May 29: Five killed in sectarian attack in Kalaya

Five people were killed in Orakzai tehsil when gunmen ambushed a group of people returning from funeral of a member of the Shia community. Four people, including a man from the Levies force were killed, while one of the attackers died after the mourners returned fire.Dawn

May 31: Another sectarian killing in Nazimabad

Gunmen shot dead a 35 year old man outside his house in an attack which was the latest in the city’s wave of Shia killings. Ghulam Abbas Naqvi was leaving his home in the morning when he was ambushed. The Majlis-i-Wahdat-i-Muslimeen condemned Mr Naqvi’s killing and blamed law-enforcement agencies for the recent upsurge in armed attacks on sectarian grounds. Dawn
