September 8: Girls’ school destroyed in Bajaur

A recently reconstructed girls primary school in Bajaur Agency was blown up for a second time by militants on the eve of International Literacy Day. The school had been earlier damaged in an explosive attack in 2010 and had only been rebuilt this year. Express Tribune

September 9: Two gunned down in sectarian attack

Karachi’s wave of sectarian killings continued unabated as two Shia men were shot dead in Orangi. Sabir Hussain, 45, and his nephew, Ghulam Hyder, 27, were sitting at their shop when a man entered posing as a customer. He was joined by two accomplices who opened fire on the victims before escaping. Dawn

September 10: Sunni cleric shot dead in Karachi

A cleric and lecturer at the Jamia Binoria seminary was gunned down by unknown assailants in North Nazimabad’s Hyderi. The victim, Maulana Masood Baig, was the son-in-law of renowned cleric and head of Jamia Binoria Mufti Naeem. He was shot by assailants riding a motorbike while heading home from Karachi University. Express Tribune

September 10: Policeman escorting polio team member killed in Bajaur Agency

A policeman was killed after a polio team he was guarding came under attack in the Damadola area of Bajaur Agency. The polio vaccination team was carrying out its operations when militants opened fire. The efforts of security personnel ensured that none of the health workers were injured in the attack. Daily Times

September 11: Shia man killed in Karachi

A third Shia doctor was killed in Karachi within the past month after armed men on motorcycles shot dead Mohammad Azeem. The victim, who hailed from Gilgit, was attacked in Korangi and died before he was brought to a hospital. Dawn

September 11: Shopkeeper shot dead in Karachi sectarian killing

A second attack in three days on a Shia shopkeeper in Orangi left a 55 year old man dead. Syed Ali Mohammed Naqvi received fatal gunshot wounds while tending his store. The victim had no known political affiliations and police confirmed that he was targeted for his faith. Dawn

September 11: Christian activist killed in Karachi

30-year old Christian political activist Akram Masih was murdered in a target-killing in Orangi Town. Masih worked with the minorities wing of the MQM and ran a shop in the area. Police said that the gunmen identified him before attacking him. Dawn

September 13: Girls school destroyed in Bannu

A primary school for girls was destroyed by an explosive device in Bannu’s Miryan area. The Girls’ Primary School Khoban Shah Nowar lost its boundary wall as well as several rooms in the explosion. Express Tribune

September 14: Health practitioner gunned down in Karachi

A health practitioner was shot dead in yet another sectarian killing in Karachi. Khalid Hasan, a homoeopathic doctor was attacked while at his clinic by gunmen riding a motorcycle. The attack left Hasan fatally wounded, while a patient at the clinic also received injuries. Dawn

Mohsin Raza Jafferi, the head of a local Shia organisation Anjuman Guldasta Ali Akbar was gunned down in Hyderabad. Jafferi was attacked in the Latifabad area and immediately succumbed to his wounds. Daily Times
