LoC: Where Stability Is a Work in Progress

The Line of Control (LoC) remains a persistent flashpoint in India-Pakistan relations, where periodic military confrontations and tactical escalations serve as a reminder of just how fragile the peace is. Despite past efforts to implement Confidence Building Measures (CBMs), the LoC continues to be a site of geopolitical volatility, further compounded by the influence of non-state actors and cross-border militancy. In the absence of consistent dialogue and crisis management mechanisms, the potential for miscalculation remains high. A targeted approach to updating and expanding CBMs, alongside a shift in diplomatic strategies, is crucial to prevent further destabilisation and create avenues for de-escalation and confidence-building.
