January 24: Two killed in Karachi sectarian attacks

Two shopkeepers were killed in back-to-back sectarian attacks in Karachi’s Korangi area. Armed men on motorcycles first targeted a spare parts shop, killing its 39-year-old owner Shahab Hussain. Within a few minutes, a nearby roadside pan kiosk was similarly attacked, fatally wounding its proprietor Wazeer Husain. Both victims belonged to the Shia community and the incidents seemed to be linked with the recent wave of killings on the same ground. Dawn
